treated (and prevented) by administering antifibrinolytic drugs. Retrospective genome-wide
association analysis of affected and unaffected Scottish Deerhounds, identified a mutation in a
gene that regulates the rate of blood clot breakdown. Based on these and other findings, we
have developed the first commercial genetic test (DEPOHGENTM) that can be used to identify
dogs at high risk for DEPOH.
