2022 AMERICAN BLACK & TAN COONHOUND CLUB NATIONAL SPECIALTY WINNER IS 'MCFLY'
A high-achieving 8 ½-year-old male called " McFly " enjoyed
being back in the ring and won Best of Breed from the
Veterans Class at the 2022 American Black & Tan Coonhound
Club (AB&TCC) National Specialty. During the COVID-19
pandemic, breeder-owner Traci Mitchell of Phelan, California,
introduced McFly to scent work, barn hunt and Fast
CAT. The fast-learning male quickly earned six titles that
combined with his conformation championships earned
him a spot in the AB&TCC Versatility Hall of Fame. Inducted
into the Hall of Fame at the 2022 National Specialty, McFly
is only the second dog in breed history to be honored. NBISS

RATN SBN SIN FDC was co-bred and is co-owned by
Mitchell's daughter, Amanda Pillow of Midland Texas. Emily
McCarthy of Merrimack, New Hampshire, is a co-breeder.
" McFly was a standout from the beginning, " says Mitchell
who breeds under the Carlin prefix and continues the
Li'l Moore Black & Tan Coonhound bloodline begun by
her mother, Jeri Moore, in the early 1990s. McFly also
won the Stud Dog Class at the National Specialty with
his sons, GCHB CGCH Carlin Black Tie Affair FDC and
GCHB CSG Windbourne Fade to Black at Carlin BCAT
FDC. McFly is fed Purina Pro Plan Adult 7+ BRIGHT
MIND Large Breed Chicken & Rice Formula dog food.
The Best of Breed winner from the Veterans Class at the 2022
AB&TCC National Specialty, " McFly " also was the second hound
in history to be inducted into the Versatility Hall of Fame and won
the Stud Dog Class.
2021 ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIEL NATIONAL OPEN CHAMPION IS TWO-TIME WINNER NAMED 'SOLO'
Hardwired to find, flush and retrieve game, a 6 ½-yearold
white-and-black male named " Solo " gave a riveting
performance to win the 2021 English Springer Spaniel
National Open Championship. The two-time National
Open Champion, who also won in 2020, was handled by
pro Jason Givens of Lighthouse Kennels in Cambria,
Wisconsin. 2XNFC FC AFC Rockey's Solo outperformed
more than 100 starters over five land series and a water
series to win the event. " Solo had an exceptional performance
with 15 pheasant finds despite extremely dry
conditions. In his calm, level-headed style, he made short
work of everything, " Givens says. The superstar springer,
who has earned 100 career all-age points, gave Givens his
second and third National Open wins. In 2003, Givens
won the National Open with NFC Lighthouse Reverence.
Solo is the first all-age springer for owner Chuck Cloninger
of Greenleaf, Wisconsin, who bought him at 9 months
of age from Gary Riddle of Rockey's Kennels in Trenton,
Utah, and who handles him in amateur stakes. Givens
handled the talented male to National High Point Open
Dog in 2018. Solo's maternal great-grandsire, NFC FC AFC
Crosswinds Warpath HOF, was the 2006 National Open
winner. Solo is fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance
30/20 Salmon & Rice Formula dog food.
A classy spaniel with exceptional bird-finding ability, " Solo " won
the English Springer Spaniel National Open Championship for the
second time in 2021.
